Andy Habsieger Memorial Game

Andrew Habsieger was a standout football player and a 2004 graduate of Festus High School and after high school enlisted in the United States Army. Pfc. Habsieger was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; Andy was killed in action on March 23, 2008 in Baghdad during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Most people know Andy as a football player and a soldier, and that description serves him well. But those who knew him best know that he had an uncanny ability to be a leader and he was always helping people who couldn’t help themselves.
The "Hobby Scholarship" was created in 2009 as a lasting memorial to celebrate the life Andy lived and the ultimate sacrifice he gave for his country. In 2015, Festus Post 253, along with Ste. Genevieve Post 150, played the first annual Andy Habsieger Memorial Game. This event, now entering its third season, is dedicated to honor the life and memory of Andy, as well as to raise money for the Habsieger Scholarship. Through the hard work and generosity of John Crites, Justin Neel, and USA Mortgage, we have awarded a scholarship to one member of the Festus Legion program, and one member of the Ste. Genevieve program for the last two seasons. This year, we will also raffle off a $1,000 scholarship at the game that can be used by a 2018 or 2019 graduate. A $2.00 raffle ticket purchase enters you into a drawing for a $1,000 scholarship from the Andy Habsieger Memorial Foundation.
Rules and Requirements
For 2018, the game will be played on Sunday, June 10, at Butch Lucas Field at West City Park in Festus. The schedule for that day will be:
